  5. The patch file for the Power Macintosh version of Command & Conquer updates the initial ship version of 1.65 to version 1.71.

Replace the old version of Mac C&C with the new version.  Drag the old version of Mac C&C to the Trash and empty Trash.  If you have been able to connect to Westwood Chat, both Wchat and Mac C&C will have been auto-updated to the most recent versions.  Of this writing (17Apr97) the most recent version of Westwood Chat for the Macintosh is v3.4.

  9. The Mac C&C patch and Mac Wchat upgrade address Internet play problems and provides full multi-play compatibility for playing against C&C Gold Win'95 PC owners.

  12. Fixes include:

  14. •  Fixes the wrist watch (wait) cursor problem upon connecting to the Westwood Chat Server.
  15.  
  16. •  Fixes the double drawing of certain areas of the Westwood Chat screen upon returning to Chat from an Internet game.

  18. •  Westwood Chat now distinguishes between chat channels and game channels so you can find games without having to scroll through the entire channel list.
  19.  
  20. •  Reduces the wait time (on a black screen) experienced at the end of an Internet game when Mac C&C switches to Chat.

  22. •  If you are a Wchat Internet game host, the game channel is recreated when the game ends.  If you are a game guest, you rejoin the host's channel upon game end.

  24. •  Game settings are preserved in Westwood Chat when returning from an Internet game.

  26. Special note on key code for extended mouse function:
  27. When selecting the key to use for special mouse functions you should avoid using the 'caps lock', 'num lock', and 'power button' keys.  Also, you probably will want to use a key that does not conflict with or disable any of the keyboard shortcuts found in Mac C&C.  Check the Mac C&C Read Me file for details on the game's keyboard shortcuts keys.

  29. Special note for playing modem-to-modem against Windows 95™, C&C Gold owners of US Robotics modems:
  30. If you know the C&C Gold owner you're playing with ownes a US Robotics modem then you will want that person to have all the advanced settings in the 'On' position in the C&C Gold Settings menu.  To do this, have the PC owner:
  31.      select Multiplayer Game from the main C&C menu
  32.      select Modem/Serial
  33.      select Settings
  34.      select Advanced
  35. They should now be at the Modem Initialization menu where all the selections should be set to 'On'.  Select OK when done and continue setting up their modem as normal.
